Lore Eckelberry is featured in the 2008 Gold Medal exhibition of the Valley Artists Guild.

In February 2008, Lore was selected by a jury to become an exhibiting member of the prestigious group of Valley Artists Guild. This high honor brought the opportunity to submit paintings and then become one of the few to be accepted to exhibit in the 60th anniversary 2008 Gold Medal Exhibition. To view Lore’s work, including the paintings exhibited, visit her website at: http://www.loreeckelberry.com/
Two pieces of Lore Eckelberry’s were admitted. One of them was the painting “Petit Chocolat” that was hung prominently in the main room of the gallery. This painting features a beautiful boy wrapped in a wonderful and strikingly colored blanket. The originality of the composition of colors is so outstanding that it is hard to take the eyes away from this exceptional painting.
The other exceptional painting selected was “Baby with Hat”. This shows a gorgeous boy wearing an oversized hat. The boy conveys a certainty of himself with his eyes looking straight at you as if he can read your deepest thoughts. The painting is nicely rendered and the colors are a combination of reds, blues and purple that create a subtle harmony.
The exhibition shows a very talented selection of artists with a high standard of art quality that was juried and the show is a wonderful success.

The portraits of Lore Eckelberry have been selected for exhibition at the prestigious Salon 2008.

Lore’s dynamic and colorful portrait paintings have been selected to show throughout this year in ten exhibitions at the Valley Institute of Visual Arts. Lore’s latest work can be seen on her website http://www.loreeckelberry.com/
Every year, out of hundreds of artists submitting works only thirty artists are selected by jury to show in the VIVA Gallery Salon. The salon features the work of these artists in regular intervals throughout the year in juried exhibitions. At each exhibition the paintings get selected by jurors to maintain the high quality standard of the work.
In Salon number one, “Ale 1” and “Self-portrait” were exhibited. “Ale 1” features a striking partial image of a woman in profile . The composition draws in the viewer by encouraging one to complete it in the mind. “Self portrait” shows a figure in bright contrasting colors that convey the subject in abstracted imagery.
Salon number two featured “Baby blue” and “Ale 2”. “Baby blue” is a crying baby reluctant to have his image portrayed and yet the inescapable sadness is visible in the eyes and the emotion of the blue color involves us further. “Ale 2” is a striking combination of Andy Warhol and a vivid happy colorful portrait of a girl smiling, wearing a baseball cap.
In Salon number three, “Orange Baby” and “Ale Phantom” which portrays a girl hiding in mystery, shy, uncertain of how to communicate something, but in spite of that she is able to transmit her thoughts through the gleam of her gorgeous eyes. “Orange Baby” is the contradiction of thoughts expressed in a color contrast of orange and green.
Salon number four has a portrait of the famous actress “Karen Black” and describes Hollywood in her preparation for a show and coming out as a star. In the painting “Arthur” you see a handsome boy lost in his thoughts while he is bathed in the sun on a beach in Hawaii.

Announcing a great exhibition coming up of contemporary works by the artist Lore at James Gray Gallery.

There is an amazing show coming up of new contemporary works of Lore Eckelberry from January 5 to February 3, 2008

Lore is going to have a great exhibition of contemporary work that demonstrates her amazing artistic talent for contrasting colors to create a great impact to the viewer.
To view more of Lore’s work, visit her website at: http://www.loreeckelberry.com/

The James Gray Gallery is located in Bergamot Station at 25 Michigan Avenue D4, Santa Monica, California 90044. Bergamot Station is Southern California's largest art gallery complex and cultural center, located in the heart of Santa Monica featuring contemporary art galleries and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Bergamot Station has become a popular destination for visitors from around the country and the world; it appears in every guide to Los Angeles as a primary cultural destination, with well over 600,000 visitors each year.

Several of Lore’s pieces will be featured in the show, where you can admire her ability to demonstrate expression of emotion in color as well as her incredible talent for composition. One of the amazing pieces that caught my eye is a black nude exposing a beautiful nude body where you can see the expression of shame in the girl. The way Lore painted it, it is almost portraying a veil covering her yet there is nothing there, there is only color protecting her from the total display of her nudity.

Lore’s contemporary artwork will be featured in a show at Viva Gallery.

From October 21 to November 17, the contemporary work of Lore Eckelberry will be displayed at Viva Gallery.

The amazing new contemporary work of Lore Eckelberry will be shown at Viva Gallery from October 21 to November 17 with the opening reception on November 4 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM.

In this show, one of Lore’s more amazing portraits, “Man Thinking”, shows the soul of a man deep in his own thoughts. Next to him there is a window brilliantly contrasting with the serenity of the face. Lore is a genius in the way she contrasts and composes the painting and the colors she uses to portray a person in deep thought. This painting is another example of the way Lore orchestrates the composition of color to create an impressive portrait. To view more of Lore’s work, visit her website at: http://www.loreeckelberry.com/

Lore says: “while I was painting this portrait I was trying to express the contrast of the face of a person that you can actually see, versus the conceptual viewing of his ideas and thoughts in the person’s mind as they float in his universe. As an artist you have the ability to bring into reality anything that you want and in this case you are painting a reality and you are also painting a two dimensional form of someone’s thoughts and ideas. As a painter you are bringing these thoughts to life in abstract shapes of color. So the window next to the man can be anything you want it to be: a window or the representation of ideas in his own mind.”

Artist Lore in Human Rights art show

The work of the artist Lore Eckelberry is going to be featured in an art show dedicated to human rights.
Lore’s artwork entitled “The Painter” has been selected to be part of the Artists for Human Rights fine art show opening at the James Gray Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. The show runs from November 14th through the 24th with an opening reception from 6-9pm on November 17th hosted by Academy Award nominated actress Anne Archer. .To view more of Lore’s work, visit her website at: http://www.loreeckelberry.com/
Lore’s piece will be featured alongside paintings, sculptures, and multimedia presentations by thirty-two international artists each reflecting some aspect of the thirty points of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Film-maker Taron Lexton presents a series of 30 public service announcements on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights “intended to give the viewer an intense aesthetic and emotional education on the subject”.Lore said: “In this painting I wanted to convey that artists have often not been allowed to express their own view or perception of the universe. You might see the grass red, yellow, and blue but in “reality” it may be green and you may be squashed for not portraying the actuality of the object and be forced to follow the path that is expected of you because it is generally followed. You have to be very strong to be able to hold your position so that you do not compromise your freedom of expression.

To the degree that artists stick to their own viewpoint, they create a different world and therefore help the expansion of freedom, and as a result there will be a new and better civilization.”
Artists for Human Rights (www.artistsforhumanrights.org) was founded by the celebrated actress and human rights advocate, Anne Archer, with the purpose of bringing artists together with the common cause of raised awareness and education of human rights. Participation is broad-based, embracive of all races, creeds and nationalities with its only prerequisite a support and affirmation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948.The group, founded in 2006, has a rapidly growing international membership base. Human Rights Action Center founder, Jack Healey, has recently joined the Advisory Board. Called “Mr. Human Rights” by US News and World Report, he was the Executive Director of Amnesty International for twelve years and is a human rights policy advisor to the U.S. government."For the James Gray show we have brought together a wonderful, eclectic group of stimulating artists presenting the subject of human rights,” notes AFHR curator Ron Anderson. “It promises to be even more exciting than our 2006 show in Soho. Selected art from this show will be traveling to Biennale 2007, the international contemporary art show in Florence, Italy, which has invited Ms. Archer to speak and has dedicated space to show Artists for Human Rights artwork."

Lore Announces the Release of Her New Painting 'Grumpy

Celebrated artist Lore Eckelberry has just recently completed a 60"x72" painting of a face filling the entire canvas with powerful contrasting colors portraying a unique and yet very strong emotion of character. Lore's work can be seen at http://www.loreeckelberry.com/
Lore's latest series of work uses broad areas of wonderful tones of color carefully combined to convey the strong emotion of the subject. In this particular painting, Lore portrays the emotion of anger by a representation of a face glaring directly at you. One is startled by the emotion transmitted through the eyes of the subject.
The face is painted in a coral shade of pink that amazingly transforms the colors around it and combines them in a unified composition. Lore utilizes a very matte and smooth texture of paint that further sharpens the contrast between colors. The way the lines are painted, they disappear to become a strong flowing composition.
Lore says: "I am fascinated by life that surrounds me. The people around me are my inspiration for my latest pieces of work."

I love the way you captured, characterized, and identified the essence of your subject in your painting of Lidia. There are a lot of painters that can portray the physical aspect of the person very well but you, Lore not only portray the physical aspect but the inner spiritual aspect of the person comes to view."
Another comment: "Wow! Lore's new portraits are breathtaking. Once again the scale makes you step back and catch your breath. Wonderful, wonderful, I love these portraits. Los Angeles-Based American Contemporary Painter Lore Creates Abstract Work

Contemporary abstract painter Lore explores the contrasts of colors in her new series of abstract work. To view the contemporary work of Lore Eckelberry, you can visit http://www.artistlore.com/ in the 'abstracts' section of the gallery.
When contemporary artist Lore was asked why she became an artist she said: "I love the feeling of freedom when I start creating abstract work, there are no rules, I put whatever I feel on the canvas, I feel that creation is unlimited, as if I am putting the energy stored inside of me, and it is releasing on the canvas in front of me. I feel a sense of relaxation as I put this on canvas. Many times I feel as if I have this electricity, this energy that has to come out and I feel that it does when I create an abstract painting. Once it gets on canvas I feel a sense of relief that this has come out."
Lore continued: "Unfortunately I have so much stored inside of me that I don't see how a lifetime is enough to express all of it. Like an athlete that exercises and the energy comes out, I feel the same when I paint an abstract painting. If things are not well, when I am painting I am in my own space and no one can take that from me. I feel that I am safe and strong when I am in my world of art. I feel that I can conquer the world and there is no barrier or limit to my reach. That is why I create art."

American Artist Lore Creates Amazing Contemporary Paintings

To view the contemporary portraits of Lore Eckelberry, one can visit http://www.artistlore.com/ in the 'portraits' section of the gallery.
Lore starts by getting an idea of the portrait subject by meetings with the person, looking at images of them throughout their life, by finding the history of the person through the closest friends and family to find out the character of the person, their likes and dislikes. Ultimately getting a summary of the life of that person.
Then Lore starts composing the image on the canvas which will start changing as it progresses, as the painting takes on a life of its own. Lore says: "At some point in the portrait painting I stop just putting what I think should go on the image and start responding to the image that is appearing on the canvas by letting the personality of the subject guide me in the elaboration of the painting. The end result comes out to be more from the person themselves and their soul rather than just my interpretation of it."
Something that is inherent to contemporary artist Lore is her ability to pick out a particular color for a particular person and have other people exclaim that the color really reflects the personality of the person.
Lore's portraits are original and impressive. As contrasted to Andy Warhol's work that used a silkscreen of a photograph or the photograph itself and added color with his superb quality as a colorist to create a painting, Lore does the whole portrait by hand utilizing her exceptional sense of color. The portraits as you see them are so remarkable and professional that they deserve the place of importance that is achieved in the eye of the viewer.

Lore Creates New Impressive Portraits

The new series of portrait paintings by Lore Eckelberry can be seen at http://www.artistlore.com/ in the 'portraits' section of the gallery. It is fascinating to see the latest series of portraits created by Lore in her interpretation of the soul of the being. These are basically abstract paintings that resemble the physical form of the individual that she is portraying. One is struck by the realism of the character of the person in this abstracted interpretation.
It is amazing the ability that Lore has to pick out the correct colors for the person she is painting. It really does reflect the person itself; you could really say: "that is so-and-so" but you are in truth looking at a very beautiful combination of colors. When you are very close to the painting you just see a very nice harmonizing of colors but when you step back, wham! There it is, the person itself, in its full beingness; it is quite impressive.
The way that Lore composes the portrait of the person that she is painting adds to the characterization of the individual. For instance, she may place the figure on the canvas showing only half of the face. With Lore's skill in composition, this increases the drama of the image that she is portraying. Last but not least, the combinations of colors are so bold and strong that a striking energy is generated by the painting.

Lore Issues a New Series of Portraits in a Striking Style

The new series of commissioned paintings of Lore can be seen at http://www.artistlore.com/ in the 'portraits' section of the gallery.
Lore says: "My portraits are not like the ones of a traditional portrait painter; they are for me a creation of an abstract of the soul of the person that I am portraying." Lore loves to play with combinations of colors that harmonize and create a wonderful impact at the moment you see it but at the same time it is a very bold and unique way to express the personality of the person. Not only the physical appearance of the being is portrayed but in fact, their essence. She has the ability to communicate the character of the person through her particular choice and combination of colors.
One of Lore's collectors said: "Thank you for capturing so well the sensibility of my son; I feel like he is right there in front of me when I see the painting."
When Lore paints her portraits she takes the strength of the character of the person that she is painting and reinterprets it in an artform of color, revealing the individuality of the person.

American Artist and Designer Lore Eckelberry Conquers Hawaii

The art of interior designing is a great ability for the selected few. To view some of Lore Eckelberry’s work visit her website at: http://www.loreeckelberry.com/
Artist Designer Lore Eckelberry says: “Interior Design is like having an artist paint a canvas just for you. An interior designer can create a space for you that is far beyond your wildest dreams and yet exactly what you wanted. A good designer will look at the space and really imagine being the person who will live there: what would he like to see in the space, what he will enjoy, and what kinds of reactions his friends will have when they see it. It is very important to feel very comfortable about the place – to feel that is completely yours and that you belong there. I like to provide comfort and elegance and a very artistic environment that has been totally created for the individuals who are living in it."
Lore Eckelberry also says: "When I am decorating, the space inspires me, the location inspires me, and most of all, the people who will inhabit the place inspire me. Sometimes the architecture is so amazing the Designer should work around it, so as not to overwhelm it with furniture but only to enhance the space and make it shine even more. Architecture, given the opportunity, can make a statement by itself. Furniture, colors, textures and fabrics all add to the space and create a certain ambiance. Any one or more of these elements can completely transform a space."
Lore Eckelberry thinks: "It is amazing – you can cover a piece of furniture and change it completely. It can look great as if it were an exclusive piece made just for you. One of my favorite parts of decorating is the creation of the art for the walls. Often I create a painting for the space and enhance the entire room. Many times I travel to obtain the exact piece of furniture that I envision. Usually I go to Europe because the French and the Italians are my favorite furniture designers. Their style of elegance and simplicity is very unique and many times the pieces of furniture are quite breathtaking. They are truly art pieces."
In interior designer Lore Eckelberry's opinion: "Color is a very wonderful tool to work with. Combining and contrasting color can, by itself, bring so much life to a room. When the right combination of color is selected, the place can look astonishing even when the furniture is not there.Once you start picking window coverings, floor, furniture and accessories it is as if you were a conductor of an orchestra in harmony, making everything sing together. And when it is finished, the place is beautiful and dreamy -- a true work of art. The canvas is not longer empty, It is full of color, texture and movement and it creates a complete communication that makes you say: 'Wow! It’s a dream'.”
One of Lore Eckelberry's clients says: “Thanks for doing the interior design and furnishing on my condo. It looks fantastic…understated yet clearly luxurious, welcoming and warm. You were able to give me exactly the contemporary island feel that I was looking for!”
Furthermore Lore Eckelberry advises: “Allow your interior designer to come up with ideas and try to implement them. You may be surprised with the result. It may be something that you really love but never would have imagined.”

The Assassin

Lore Eckelberry, a Los Angeles resident, has created an amazing Anime painting, “The Assassin” which portrays the strength of her ability to use color and communicate emotion. Bold fields of orange contrast with the strength of the black outlines of a futuristic figure that is shrouded in mystery. The painting illustrates a figure that fees completely down, due to the opinion of others. That is in a way the way that we feel in life at times, completely deflated, due to the statements and comments of the people around us. And what the artist would like to communicate is that if we believed these people around us, the so called “friends” the result is a complete shut-down of emotions, leaving us with the complete feeling of failure. Believe what others say about you, and your destruction would be complete. Good for them! they made it. They made their target of putting you down so your success would be null, and they achieved their product. Now you feel bad about yourself and beat yourself over the head for things that others, maybe your so-called friends, make you believe that you are: a complete failure.
This painting is an example of Lore’s ability to create in the viewer multiple readings of the subject and the simple forms convey emotions strongly.
Lore’s choice of figures for her paintings at once tell a story and at the same time is an outline for her dramatic use of color in all its vibrancy. The choice of colors that collide with each other enhances their individual qualities. And at the same time show you the dichotomies that we deal with in daily life. Believe or do not believe your best “friends”” and the people around that that say they care for you and love you, yet the end results is a blanket of shame and destruction of your own self. Is this good? Should we listen and take to heart the opinions of others around us? Or should we just be true to ourselves by listening to our own advice and opinion in order to succeed in life?
Artist Lore Eckelberry expresses the contradictions presented in life with the use of contrasting colors that contradict themselves by the pure idea of being next to each other. This work portrays great energy, emotion and strength of character that makes you feel the energy flow through your body.

The strong emotion and energy that she feels for life inspires her to use strong vivid colors.

It has been acknowledged that the soul of a man can be reflected and recorded in his art. The art of expression is in itself an ability innate to the artist. To be able to portray deep emotion throughout a piece of painting it is in itself a direct communication from the soul. Many times we need to have that communication in order to feel more alive, to look at the future and know that life is worth living, that life is not that bad after all. We need the wavelength of the aesthetics that come through a piece of art, because they are like vitamins for the soul. And after receiving it we feel stronger, happier and inspired to create a better future.
We need the energy of art to keep us going. It is very important for a civilization to have enough art to create a strong force of positive energy towards its population. A civilization cannot flourish and proper without enough creation and art. Hence the Golden Ages, where creation of art was at its strongest, and people accepted it as such. We need art for the soul in the same way the body needs water to survive.

Lore Eckelberry says, “My goal as an artist is to achieve a very strong communication between my art and the observer. To communicate strong emotions through the strength of color. I want my art works to talk by themselves and tell you how they feel, what is on their mind and how was their day. They will also ask you the question ‘what do you think?’
I want you to have a complete communication with my work and feel completely transported to another world, a world of esthetics and beauty. A world where your emotions can be expressed freely and you can let go. A world where you feel strong and happy. A world where only your own opinion counts. A world where you feel the complete certainty that is ok to be you. A world of your own”.

new anime art

Artist Lore Eckelberry has translated her interest in Japanese art and history into a line of several large scale paintings that use the strong emotion and action of anime art.

Just imagine, Matisse meets Warhol. That’s how acrylic-gouache on canvas works of artist Lore Eckelberry show her spontaneous, explosive paintings that exude the artist’s love of expression of strong emotions that range up and down the scale, from happiness to complete terror. Lore’s emphasis on color creates a complete, modern and innovative strength in art expression.

Lore Eckelberry uses photographs, comics and picture books to inspire herself. As for color she gets inspired as her emotions feel at the moment that she is painting, that could be anywhere from a light yellow to a strong red and anywhere in between.

For instance in the painting The Eye, Lore expresses the strength of emotion portrayed in the glimpse of an eye.

Lore tries to concentrate on the brilliance of simplicity. Lore explains “the best art tells us something about ourselves, makes us think, and focuses our attention on the unconscious which nevertheless invades our daily lives.”
